CORRECTION POLICY

How we handle errors, updates, and new evidence.

OUR STANDARD:

We publish findings based on the evidence available at the time of investigation. We get things right as often as humanly possible. When we don't, we fix it, visibly, with a record of what changed and why.

WHEN WE CORRECT:

If a published report contains a factual error, we correct it. If new evidence surfaces that materially changes a finding, we update the report. If a source we cited is later found to be unreliable, we document that too. We don't wait to be pressured. We correct when correction is warranted.

HOW WE CORRECT:

Every update to a published report is logged with a date and a description of what changed. The original finding doesn't disappear, the correction sits alongside the record. We're building toward cryptographic version control that will make every change permanently auditable. Until that's live, corrections are documented manually and transparently.

WHAT WE DON'T DO:

We don't silently edit published reports. We don't remove findings because someone finds them inconvenient. We don't issue corrections under external pressure without independent verification that a correction is actually warranted.

HOW TO REQUEST A CORRECTION:

If you believe a published report contains a factual error, contact us at rd@thereddot.org with the case ID, the specific claim you believe is incorrect, and the evidence that supports your position. We review every request. We don't guarantee a correction — we guarantee a review.

RESPONSE TIME:

Our team will review every correction request and do our best to complete it within 14 days, depending on complexity. Either way, you'll hear from us, and you can follow the progress via email.
